I had some family visiting town, so I though we’d take them out to the La Chua trail here in Gainesville to show them a bit of real Florida. We saw plenty of alligators, a blue heron spearfishing with its bill, and even the elusive bison.
One of my favorite reasons to visit is the golden light that floods the park across the wide horizon in the afternoons. It sets up the perfect light for great portraits. For the one below, I ran ahead on the boardwalk, got down to her level, and started shooting. As soon as her eye caught the shiny lens attached to my camera, her little feet went into motion. The distance closed fast and I was able to capture this shot just before she tackled me 🙂
